India and Pakistan signed a joint declaration under Russian arbitration. Under the treaty, India agreed to return all the provinces occupied during the war to Pakistan.

The Joint Manifesto was signed on 10th January 1966 and the same night on 11th January 1966, Lal Bahadur Shastri died mysteriously. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a senior leader, Karmaveer, courageous, honest and kind person. In his life yesterday, he did not abuse many government facilities.

He used to send his children from the ration shop to the ration lane like a common man. While holding various positions of governance, Shastri fulfilled his obligations with sincerity. Nobody had self-power, passion, power and power like him.

It is said that — the work he did during his 18 months tenure, Nehru might not have been able to do it even in 18 years. Every year to pay tribute to him, Shastri`s death anniversary is celebrated on the 11th of January. He also inspired many Indians to join the freedom struggle.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2nd October 1904 in the ordinary family of Mughalsarai (then Varanasi present Chandauli). His father`s name was Sharda Prasad and his mother`s name was Ramdulari Devi. His father was a primary school teacher by profession. Lal Bahadur was the youngest of his family, so he was called little. Due to his father`s death at the age of one and a half years, he went ahead on the path of life, facing many influences and difficulties.

His mother took him and his grandfather went to Mirzapur, his primary education was done in Mirzapur and completed his further education from Kashi Vidya Peeth. Shastri got his bachelor`s degree in Sanskrit language. After this, Shastri got his Shastri degree from Kashi Vidya Peeth. Shastri added the word Shastri to his name.

He was married to Lalita, the daughter of Ganesh Prasad, a resident of Mirzapur in 1928. Shastri was a Gandhian who devoted his entire life to the service of Garobo. Shastri was working with Gandhi in the non-cooperation movement and also went to jail for some time.

At the age of 20, he joined the freedom movement. He was deeply influenced by Gandhiji`s thoughts. So they decided to follow their path. He participated in the movements that went with Gandhiji. By following the path of truth and non-violence, Shastri faced all the adversities.

Freeing India from the clutches of the British was his only goal and he always tried to achieve this goal with full devotion. During the freedom struggle, he had to go to jail many times. During this time he spent all 9 years in prison but still these disasters could never take him back from the country`s freedom struggle.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was very close to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and hence India became the second Prime Minister after his death. During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, the slogan given by him “Jai Jawan, Jai Farmer” became very famous. With this slogan, he worked to encourage the farmers and soldiers of the army who work day and night for the progress of the country. His slogan is very famous even in the present day and it is used to boost the morale of army personnel and farmers.
